What could a band possibly have to blog about?

As we delve into a new foray of musical connection and content, we butt heads directly into... what are good topics for bands to blog about?

This is Darren, by the way. It is my honor and anxiety to be the first to write a blog on behalf of Syne Wave as we dip our proverbial toes into another avenue of musical connection with our fans, and anyone who stops by to check us out.. Well, there are many sites out there with their own advice on how to get started. Prior to researching anything, I jotted down a few notes on what I thought would make reasonable topics of choice from a band to fan connection paradigm.

Here is a short list of some of those jots du jour:

  • Social Media - the good, the bad and the ugly.

  • Keeping the spirit alive during a pandemic.

  • Asking for topics or questions to us as a band, or individually, to blog about.

  • Gear talk - I nominate Ken and Alex for bulk of that area as their knowledge of gear and bands, for that matter, far outdo any claim I would have to such expertise. I am more into the songwriting process as a whole. Perhaps I will dig into that more and share some thoughts as we move in this direction.

  • Politics - Nah... there's enough of that crap to go around already, and who needs another reason to divide us, really?

When I went to research about the blogging band idea, I found this article, "9 topics that musicians can easily blog about", and discovered that many of these items were on my longer list of topics I had jotted down.

One topic in that article which stood out to me that I had not jotted down, but had previously thought of at one time, was the first one, "Behind the Lyrics". I was glad to see this in this article because I think lyrics can be a powerful part of the song expression. I often approach the lyrical part of songwriting as the concept of completing a thought. I think this is a great idea for a topic. What do you think?

So, are you down with hearing more from Syne Wave? What kind of topics or questions would you like us to chime in on? We look forward to answering them and starting dialogs with you, our fans and friends, as we take this step in our seemingly meandering (at times) journey, Finally, I will leave you with this capture of me, in my studio, actually typing out this first blog for historical (or hysterical) archiving. And no, I do not have that image painted on my wall, lol. Rock on, people! Thank you for reading our first blog! Heed the Syne! Propagate the Wave!
